Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold8 Series at Unpacked 2026 Event

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / – Samsung Electronics revealed its eighth-generation foldable lineup at the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, unveiling three devices: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant introduced refreshed hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated artificial intelligence features across all models. This announcement signifies the debut of the Ultra model within Samsung’s foldable device range, aimed at enterprise users, boasting the slimmest foldable profile to date at 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and a weight of 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a newly designed form factor, weighing just 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone in the company’s history. It is equipped with a 10:16 aspect ratio cover display and a 4:3 aspect ratio main screen, allowing the device to adapt seamlessly to different content types such as browsing, reading, and video playback. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, support a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it also sports a 4,800 mAh battery.

To boost durability while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for its premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb impact, distribute mechanical tension, and minimize visible creasing over multiple fold cycles. Precision adjustments to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension ensure smoother mechanical opening. The device’s outdoor visibility is enhanced by a low-reflection finish designed to preserve color vibrancy under bright ambient conditions.

    Enhanced Hardware and Productivity Features

The flagship Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands the display area to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen paired with a 6.5-inch cover screen. Built for multitasking and media production at high volumes, the Ultra model features a 200-megapixel main camera with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. For professional mobile videography, it supports 8K recording using the APV video codec and includes Cine LUT color management tools to facilitate professional editing workflows.

Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra incorporates an expanded graphite cooling structure designed to improve heat dissipation during intensive tasks. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery with a 45W dual-path fast-charging system that efficiently manages power distribution across the cells. The device offers configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Features and Global Launch

Alongside the larger foldable models, Samsung introduced the compact Galaxy Z Flip8, which measures 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldables include software with advanced AI tools developed in collaboration with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which automate background workflows, summarize complex files, and improve app navigation.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 series will be available for pre-order globally starting immediately after the Unpacked event, with retail deliveries beginning on August 7, 2026. The starting price is set at $1,899.99 for the base Galaxy Z Fold8, while the Ultra and Z Flip8 models feature updated hardware pricing across different regional markets. This launch continues Samsung’s strategy to promote foldable devices within both premium consumer and enterprise segments worldwide.
